The Leilakul Hike offers a full day of hiking through the stunning Ziddi Valley. The highlight of this tough but beautiful trip are the Leilakul Lakes situated at an altitude of 3400 meters. Departing from Dushanbe in the morning, we first drive in about an hour and a half to the village of Ziddi, which is the gateway to the valley of the same name. From the village, we continue by car over an unpaved road for another half hour to the start of the trail. The first part of the hike goes up through the Ziddi valley. We pass the Khoja Sanghok shrine – a spring of mineral water – until eventually reaching the Leilakul Lakes. After a lunch break at the lakeshore, the trail descends alongside the river with many nice viewpoints on the way. At the end, we climb up the slope back to the car road near the village of Kuktëppa, from where we return to Dushanbe.
The hike is physically demanding due to the great distance and the considerable height differences. The trails are of medium difficulty. The path can be narrow, especially along the river. The hike is suited for well-trained hikers.
