TREKKING IN TADZJIKISTAN

We did a one-week trek in the Fann Mountains with Trek Tajikistan. It was excellent!!!! Communication beforehand with Shuhrat was fantastic - he was extremely responsive and gave great advice. The trek itself was wonderful. We were very well looked after by our guide, cook and donkey handler. (And thank you to the donkeys for carrying all our gear!) Food and camping equipment were top notch. We had 3 nights camping and 3 in guesthouses, which was a good mix. The scenery was amazing. The trek was quite challenging for us (in our sixties) but totally doable. Shuhrat met us at the end in Dushanbe and again proved to be super helpful sorting out accommodation for us when there was a problem with the hotel we had originally booked. I thoroughly recommend Trek Tajikistan for excellent service before, during and after our trek. Thank you, Shuhrat!

My wife and I joined a five-day trek in late August. We had a few questions beforehand, and Shuhrat (our guide) always replied honestly and efficiently. The scenery along the trek was absolutely beautiful, and everything was very well organised. Shuhrat was especially attentive to me, as I was usually the slowest member of the group. Considering the logistical difficulties of the trek, the food was also surprisingly delicious. Perhaps the only negative surprise was that several groups follow the same route, so at times you are not completely alone when camping. On the other hand, we really enjoyed the opportunity to take a short swim in some wonderful lakes. A very enjoyable and highly recommended trek!

Unforgettable Pamir Lakes trek with Shuhrat! Writing this, I have a big happy smile on my face: what a great adventure, made easy thanks to Trektajikistan’s well documented website, excellent communication before the trip and good organisation, as well as the kindness of all people met on the way. There are two distinct parts to this trip: the drive to and from the Pamir mountain range, partly along the Pamir highway, with nights in homestays, which offers a great introduction to the people of Southern Tajikistan, and the trek itself, up to 4600 m, camping in very remote valleys, with no connectivity for several days. No need to be a mountaineer, but I would still recommend this mostly for experienced and fairly fit hikers. Thanks to Shuhrat, acclimatization to the altitude and any difficulties in terrain (Swiss grading T3 plus some river crossings :) ) were well managed, and we were also well nourished. I particularly loved the stunning campsites, where our camping equipment was carried by donkeys each day, as well as Shuhrat’s accounts of life in Tajikistan and the Pamirs. We had an unforgettable trek in the Fann Mountains thanks to Trek Tajkistan, our excellent guide Shurath and Umed who accompanied the donkeys and took care of our luggage. After exploring the beautiful lake Iskanderkul for 2 days, we trekked for 8 days from Allaudin to 7 lakes. Felled by illness, I had to drop out for a few days. Thanks to Shurath, I was looked after excellently in the homestays and was able to continue the trip after a couple of days. It was a great experience and a wonderful trek through very beautiful and unspoilt nature. The local people and the owners of the homestays are incredibly friendly and hospitable and cooked delicious meals. We camped at beautiful locations near rivers or lakes. Thank you Trek Tajikistan and Shurath for the wonderful trek! ??

I crossed the Alps and the Dolomites for writing a book about the World War I and I learned how the men have adapted to the height of the mountains, to cold and snow. I love the mountains near my home, however I wanted to discover new landscapes. But to walk surrounded by lonely peaks is not the main aspect of my journeys. In my opinion it is more important to meet the people for knowing the places through their eyes and their words. I still remember the meeting managed by Shuhrat, our Tajik guide, with a family that in summer lives in a tent far from the village. I thought of the nomad shepherds that lived in the Middle Age along the Silk Road that pastured the sheeps for the wool, the cows for the milk and the meat and used the donkeys for carrying their things. The ability to adapt to this natural environment has extremely amazed me. We ate together some plov and bread cooked in the open air and we learned a lot about the lifestyle, the work, the culture of these amazing people. Mario

We had a very good, personalized 10-day hike in the Fann Mountains with 'Trek Tajikistan'. It was a really great tour through the Fann Mountains with a very pleasant mix of homestays and camping. Very well organized with a flexible guide, Shuhrat, who went beyond the call of duty to give us real insights into his country and culture. Flexible not only in adapting the trip to our wishes, but also when one of the participants had problems with his health, to find a good solution for each of the participants. Well done Shuhrat! The homestays were better than expected and the campsites good. Our luggage was transported by donkeys. Big compliment to the donkey driver who also set up the tents. So very satisfied and worth repeating! ))
