TREKKING IN TADSCHIKISTAN

I’ve spent fantastic days on the Fann Mountains. Our great guide Shuhrat led us through very nice hiking and let us understanding the way of life and culture of the people living in those villages.

Unforgettable Pamir Lakes trek with Shuhrat! Writing this, I have a big happy smile on my face: what a great adventure, made easy thanks to Trektajikistan’s well documented website, excellent communication before the trip and good organisation, as well as the kindness of all people met on the way. There are two distinct parts to this trip: the drive to and from the Pamir mountain range, partly along the Pamir highway, with nights in homestays, which offers a great introduction to the people of Southern Tajikistan, and the trek itself, up to 4600 m, camping in very remote valleys, with no connectivity for several days. No need to be a mountaineer, but I would still recommend this mostly for experienced and fairly fit hikers. Thanks to Shuhrat, acclimatization to the altitude and any difficulties in terrain (Swiss grading T3 plus some river crossings :) ) were well managed, and we were also well nourished. I particularly loved the stunning campsites, where our camping equipment was carried by donkeys each day, as well as Shuhrat’s accounts of life in Tajikistan and the Pamirs. We had an unforgettable trek in the Fann Mountains thanks to Trek Tajkistan, our excellent guide Shurath and Umed who accompanied the donkeys and took care of our luggage. After exploring the beautiful lake Iskanderkul for 2 days, we trekked for 8 days from Allaudin to 7 lakes. Felled by illness, I had to drop out for a few days. Thanks to Shurath, I was looked after excellently in the homestays and was able to continue the trip after a couple of days. It was a great experience and a wonderful trek through very beautiful and unspoilt nature. The local people and the owners of the homestays are incredibly friendly and hospitable and cooked delicious meals. We camped at beautiful locations near rivers or lakes. Thank you Trek Tajikistan and Shurath for the wonderful trek! ??

I chose this 6-day trek with Trek Tajikistan because I was interested in meeting the Yaghnob people (considered to be descendants of the Sogdian-speaking peoples who once inhabited most of Central Asia beyond the Amu Darya River). We stayed 2 nights in villages along the Yaghnob Valley before heading to Tagobikul Valley and then crossing into Ziddi Valley. The highlight of the trip for me was crossing the Leila Pass at 3,900 m and camping by Lailakul lakes at 3,400 m. If you are interesed in avoiding the more touristy areas and experiencing how people in remote mountainous villages live, then this is the one for you!

Our trek in the Fann Mountains was in one word amazing! The beautiful mountain landscape, the super hospitable locals and the nights under the stars made it an unforgettable and unique experience. It was really special to sleep in our tent in those remote areas. During the trek our guide Shuhrat was very kind and took care of us along the way.

I did 2 trips with Trek Tajikistan. I went to the Fann Mountains and to the Yognob Valley In general super enthousiast about this trips. In the fann mountains the nature is amazing, unreal to stand alone at the best views. Its like switseland, but than empty. In the yognob valley is more a cultural trip. Great to meet the locals. The guide Shurath was really good.

Shuhrat was a fantastic guide on what was a tough treck to the Lakes in the Pamirs. Wonderful scenery and great camp sites. Travel and home stays all efficiently arranged (the journey down to the Pamirs is an epic journey in itself) and when opportunities arose tea and yoghurt shared in remote herder's huts. Thoroughly recommend Treck Tajikistan for their efficiency and care. David

Wonderful trek in Pamir Mountains arranged by trek Tajikistan Pamir Mountains are extremely beautiful but the treks are harder and more dangerous then it might seem at first glance. The terrain is spectacular. The place is pretty much empty of tourists and the very few locals one encounters are friendly. Local food ( where available) is very very good. Our guide, Shurat is very knowledgeable And not once he helped us overcome difficult situations.
